Key Technologies: A lightweight titanium face insert moves 27 grams to the perimeter and sole to boost forgiveness. The broad sole lowers the center of gravity (for higher shots) while internal weighting stabilizes the clubhead through impact. Comes with the option of up to four hybrids (3-6).
OUR TESTERS SAY: Extremely forgiving, high-trajectory Ping K15 Irons
that can reduce your tendency to slice.
PROS
PLAYABILITY: Cuts through the rough well and performs nicely from a variety of lies; gentle draws and fades are possible, but better suited for high, straight shots.
ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: Very good spin correction across the face on mis-hits, particularly on potential slices; consistently straight on all types of contact.
DISTANCE CONTROL: Not overwhelmingly long, but length is consistent throughout the set.
FEEL: Provides subtle feedback on mis-hits but is never unpleasant; crisp sensation when struck in the middle of the face; outstanding stability on all shots.
LOOK: At address, the sizable back cavity and large sole are well hidden; classic Ping K15 Irons
style that many testers like.
CONS
Some testers feel its trajectory is higher than optimal; a few testers find that overall distance isn't quite as long as they'd like.
From Sports Illustrated Golf+ A multimetal Ping K15 Irons
design combines a large, lightweight titanium face with a 17-4 stainless-steel body to increase forgiveness and improve launch conditions. Weight saved from the titanium face is allocated to the sole and perimeter to achieve more accuracy and higher ball flights. The K15 hybrids are available in 3H, 4H, 5H and 6H. They rely on an extremely high moment of inertia and a patent-pending feature that creates lower-spinning, higher-launching shots that fly longer and straighter. |
